Provide resources, training
and supervision to the NGO, CBO and public health sectors, to educate
the public, encourage help seeking, educate teachers and counsellors,
and support front line NGO workers.
Provide, resources, training and supervision to the health sector to train
doctors in assessment, diagnosis, & management of common mental health
disorders, and establish and implement a framework for referral of more
complicated cases, e.g. refractory or severe depression.
Provide a base from which to gather information and evaluate trauma-response
and resettlement policy in the region, and monitor its effects and impact.
Increase the disaster preparedness of Sri Lanka in terms of psychosocial
response and resettlement planning with partner organisations, through
training, support and campaigning.
- Co-ordinate a systematic programme of training.
- Co-ordinate and maintain a supervision infrastructure and to provide
facilities for supervision.
- Provide a long-distance learning module.
- Contribute to the development of the mental health infrastructure.
- Organise national and regional conferences.
- Facilitate networking and co-ordination with multi-stakeholders
in tsunami rehabilitation and trauma work
